Fishman PRO-EQ Platinum Preamplifier/DI for Acoustic Instruments
 I felt that the Pro-EQ Platinum for Bass was such a great product for my customers (and myself!) that I decided to carry their preamp for other acoustic instruments as well. The Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum is suitable for use with:
- acoustic/electric guitar
- nylon-string classical guitar
- banjo
- mandolin
- mandocello
- dobro
- dulcimer
- banjo
- violin/fiddle
- just about any stringed instrument using a pickup
This unit is just as powerful and loaded with high-end features as their Bass-specific unit, but is better voiced for our thinner-stringed playing brethren. A clean, ultra-quiet preamp/D.I is the starting point; from there, add a very usable four-band equalizer, which is modeled after the very popular Fishman Prefix Plus onboard preamp and includes a semi-parametric midrange control. Another valuable feature "swiped" from Fishman's Prefix is the ever-important feedback fighting phase and notch controls - you never know what frequencies in an unfamiliar room are going to jump up and bite you; these controls will help you easily dial them out.
New to the Pro-EQ Platinum: the simple but effective "Smooth" compression circuit. With a single knob, you can add a bit more punch to the sound, while subduing the heavier attacks from strong strumming or more percussive or aggressive playing. It's a simple way to get a far more balanced sound without having to figure out compression ratios and other settings on an outboard compressor. And speaking of punch, just like the Bass Pro-EQ, it has the Voltage Doubler circuit, so it has headroom to spare - even when running on its internal 9 volt battery.
Totally professional and road-ready to the last detail, the Pro-EQ Platinum has a balanced XLR output, through which you can power the unit with standard 48v phantom power. (You can also power the Pro-EQ with a standard 9v battery or the optional power adapter.) The balanced output also has a ground lift, which even works with the phantom power applied.
